I have a jailbroken iPhone 5 and an iPad 2 ( not jail broken). The iPhone is jailbroken as I need a couple of applications I can only get on Cydia. Both iThings run a version of ios6. I find now that some of the regular apps I use frequently and new apps I want to use require ios7. The latest version of ios is 7.1.1, off which apparently no jailbreak s available. The only way I can see getting out of ths catch-22 would be to install ios 7.0.x and the jailbraek it. Is that possible? Can I now update my iPhone to 7.0 x ?

Not possible. You can only update to 7.1. Apple is no longer signing 7.0.6
