You shouldn't need a specific app to charge your device in your vehicle, but then again, I don't drive a 2014 Honda CRV. With my specific 2014 vehicle, I simply plug my device in to the vehicle's USB port and it begins charging.

No app. You just need to make sure the output of the USB port is 10w (2.0A) or greater. Typically, the stock USB ports only put out 5s (1.0A). If that’s the case, pick up a good quality lighter socket adapter that puts out the necessary power. You need at least a 10-12w charger for all iPads. The only one that shipped with the stock 5w adapter was the first gen iPad Mini.

I did just buy a brand new 2014 Honda and all the 2014 line are IOS interfaced and compatible, All you need to do is plug it into the USB Port to charge or even to use and play your iPod. It is right now the closest to Carplay there is.

You can go to the Honda link Website and DL free 3 different apps that will allow you do do some pretty amazing things with your new Honda. They are free from the app store. The USB Port is right underneath,
