removing an older game and replacing with a new one in game center

I inadvertently started two different games of Clash of clans on my iOs devices. I had it on my iPad and was trying to add my iPhone for ease of checking in. It started another account an made the new one (iPhone) the game center account. Now I've removed it from my iPhone and tapped remove from game center while I've continued on the iPad. it still asks every time i login to iPad to join with old (newer) iPhone account! Uggggg! I just want my iPhone to mirror my iPad so i can check in during day. Anyone had this issue?
