I recently purchased an iMac at a rent to own store. Full price is 800 for a 2011 iMac 2.7ghz Intel i5 CPU. Not a bad price (I'm getting paid to go to school, and with that I also will get money to buy this computer within a month). Anyway, I plan on upgrading the RAM soon (2GB is not enough for me -- I do a lot of multitasking and I like to do some video editing). I would also like to add a SSD or a Apple Fusion drive. Which, brings me to my question. One, can we even buy a fusion drive from Apple? Would the price be worth it even if I could? Two, would adding a SSD to my computer do any harm to my computer? I would pay Best Buy to do it for me, assuming the price is still reasonable like it was when my old iMac HD died on me.
