Can I keep my old phone number if I change to a different SIM card?

I've ordered a new sim from giffgaff. I want to try it with a ?10 top up before I commit myself to keeping my old number. So could I use the gg sim and retain my old number after say a a week..

That question might be best answered via your wireless carrier and/or the makers of the SIM card you referenced.

I bet if you spoke to your current carrier as advised and simply ask them to PORT you old number, There should be no reason why they can't despite the situation with your sim card. Good luck to you.
