Brand new ipad mini 32GB. Locked.

Hi,please can you help me. Just bought this ipad, set it up basics. Turned it off, now its asking for a password I did not put in.
What can I do?

One of two things could be going on. 1 you set up a password and forgot or 2 you bought it used from someone who didn't wipe it. You will need that password

Try restoring via iTunes.

Dave did you buy this iPad brand new or from a 3rd party no matter what 3rd party. If brand new from a store it is impossible for it to ask for a password unless you set it it up. If you bought it from a 3rd party you better know the person and hope you get the password or there is not going to be much else you can do.
