Which Macbook pro to get? Retina vs standard

I

iMore Question

Hi, I'm getting my first macbook, but I don't know which one to get.

I will be using it mainly for school work and I just want a powerful and fast laptop and of course getting a lot out f my money. I'm kind of considering getting the pro non-retina 13", but are the retina 13" faster? And do both of them have an SSD? And what upgrades should I get?

If I just give an example of the upgrades, which will be better and worth the money?:

Macbook pro 13":
2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM ? 2x4GB
128GB Solid State Drive

OR

Macbook pro with Retina-display:
2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM

Please let me know if I even need these upgrades and which I just upgrade/downgrade

I hope some of you can help me choose the right one :)

If it were me, I'd go with the non-retina display version. You're getting more. Yes, the retina display looks gorgeous, but how many laptops have you worked on that didn't have a retina display but was more than sufficient?

What's the difference between the 128 GB SSD in the non-retina and the flash drive in the retina?
