update itunes software

trying to sync iphone with my laptop and it tells me i need to update itunes to version 11.1 but when i go to software updates it says there is nothing to update?

Hi and welcome to iMore.

My iTunes tells me with a little popup box when I need to update. It did today and wants me to update to 11.1.5, which I am currently downloading. Do you get the popup box when you open iTunes or are you trying to manually install an update?
