I've got this "Search Bar always enabled" syndrome on Facebook for iOS V8.0 (also happened on V7.0). Just noticed this issue after updating to iOS 7.1 recently on both iPhone 5s and 5 so I'm not sure if it's since iOS 7.0.6 or not. Tried deleting and reinstalling Facebook app but to no avail. Anyone having this issue too? Solution?

The first time I logged in it didn't show but the second time yes. Unless Facebook removes it, you can't remove it.

You're right - it didn't show on first login but the 'search bar' came out all the time on subsequent launch. Now it appears that it's by design instead of a bug

Yup, that's just by design...I guess people complained that it took far too much effort to swipe to the right to bring up the search field and menu screen, so now it's there permanently.
