Significant differences between the two items...it's also been covered a hundred times. If you want the list of differences, it's as close as a quick google search for you.

The Air is the better device...whether it is best for you just depends on whether your budget allows for such. If you have the money, buy the iPad Air.

Maybe as my other fellow members have said to do a comparison on the 2 and if you go to Apple and go to iPad check the iPad 2 and the Air and do a side by side comparison. Once you do, You will know which to buy. Good luck.

The fact that the iPad 2 is almost 3 years old would be a deal breaker for me. The Air hands down is a better device.
