Both ipods wont hold the same music from the same computer

I

iMore Question

I have two ipod touch's. One is 5yrs old 8 gb that I use only for music and the other is the newest generation 32gb. I can put all my music on my old one and play with no problem. the other one shows that the music is on there on the screen of the ipod and the computer but it wont play all the songs. It just skips over a lot of them. Some of the music was taken from CDs others bought on itunes. I really dont want to reset my new ipod yet till I know thats my only choice.

If the songs are actually on the iPod but not playing, it sounds to me like the sync was interrupted, and you will need to re-sync your music to the newer device.

Is the newer iPod using the same Apple ID as the older one?

The questions asked were valid but resetting the new iPod is not going to hurt it. It will simply reset it to new and then resync it to iTunes and should be fine. I think the key question asked was the same Apple ID used?
