How do I set individual tones for incoming e-mails on my IPAD mini Air? Do I need an app for that?

You don’t need an app. Go to Settings > Sounds > New Mail... pick an alert tone and save it.

Also not to jump over Fausty but if you have more than 1 acct like most of us do simply choose different tones so you can determine which email acct you just received an email from that is if you have puch or fetch turned on to check your emails at certain intervals.
