    I cant get imessage to turn on my new iphone 5. Keeps sticking in activation and then saying there is an error!

    Try Settings>> GENERAL>> RESET>> Reset Network Settings

    First of all, make sure you have internet access. If so, go to Settings-General-Reset and then select "Reset Network Settings". You will have to re-enter your Wi-Fi passcode, if applicable. Afterwards, sign out of iMessage, reboot your iPhone and then sign back in to iMessage and see if you get passed the activation screen in a timely manner.

    In addition to the above, make sure your carrier also supports iMessage/FaceTime activation cause some carriers (like wind in Canada) don't support using your phone number for iMessage/FaceTime. You could also try removing the SIM card and connecting to wifi then use your Apple ID to sign in to activate iMessage, then insert your SIM card back in.
