I have several old email addresses that I still occasionally receive email thru. I have them loaded into my preferences so I will receive these messages. However, is there a way to prevent sending replies from those old addresses. Especially on my phone I cannot find a way to change the 'sent from' setting. Preferences only seems to effect messages sent from outside Mail.

If you go into settings>mail contacts and calendar scroll down to default account and set from there.

This is set appropriately but messages still are sent from the obsolete email if I reply to a message. Any other thoughts?

Ad ed mentioned and to add you can have as many emails as you like to do whatever like you are. Whatever email acct. to be clear that you designate as your default email acct. that is where you will send from when you go to start a new email or receive them. If you are sending an email that you send as new you can go in and change it to any other one manually if you wish as well.

It is because you are replying from the email address that you don't want to use. That is going to stay that way if you continue to reply from any other than the default. When you get an email from one of these and want to reply from another one.... Simply tap on the email and it will allow you to change to one of your others to reply from.

Tap the from address and you should get a drop down list of your available from accounts. A Reply is always going to default to replying from the account the email was addressed to.
