Updating from Jailbroken iOS 6 to Jailbroken iOS 7

I've read through the FAQ and I know that it recommends a fresh install. Is this required though?

Yes... That's why it's recommended... feel free to not if you like... and be ready to put up with random junk happening that will tick you off to the point you go back and do what you should have in the first place...
