i have heard that i phone cannot support data and phone at the same time unless you are in a wi fi area . is this true?

You can use voice and data at the same time on Verizon if you are on WIFI. I am on Verizon and if I am at home or work I have WIFI turned on and do it all the time. That is the only way with WIFI otherwise you need to be with AT&T. Good luck with what you choose.
