i dont think that there will be a big difference in the look of it but i'm expecting a better processor. in my opinion, apple can include touch id with their new flagship products.

I don't think that either will receive "significant" updates in 2014, given the recent major upgrades...but you can always count on some kind of little polish to them. You may see a slightly improved chip set (not new, but perhaps "optimized", and maybe some different storage options).

Apple's notebooks usually progress at the same rate as Intel's SOCs. The current generation (Haswell) brought much improved battery life, and slight bumps to speed and graphics (even better with Iris). The next generation (Broadwell) is expected to bring a significant boost in CPU speed and up to 40% better graphics performance. Any special additions by Apple (touch ID, etc) will likely be unknown until the last minute.
