My granddaughter got a IPod Touch for Christmas. I have a Samsung Galaxy Discover phone. Is there any way she can contact me. I was told I have to have an IPhone and an Internet account. Is this true

She could download any of the chat apps to contact you. Hangouts may be a good one for you to try if you both use Google

There's any number of cross platform solutions you can try. Skype, Hangouts, BBM, to name a few.
