You can only transfer songs from iTunes to the phone. Not from the phone to iTunes. It never worked when I tried to do that.

If you buy from the iTunes store on an iPhone, you can transfer purchases from devices to iTunes on computer.

Yeah. If you have the music sync settings on in the iTunes and AppStore turned on it will automatically download it to the computer when you buy music.

No, iTunes transfers any music you purchased from the iTunes Store on your iOS device to your computer but only purchases not music that was synced from another computer. Also your computer has to be authorized your Apple ID that was used to purchases those songs to transfer those purchases to the computer from an iOS device.
