I have been contracted with AT&T wireless for over 10 years. I am using a Samsung Galaxy and eligle to upgrade my phone. However, the price for the iPhone 5s is $199.00 with a 2 year contract. That's the same price if i just walk in new from the street- $199 for a 2 year contract. Doesnt seem like an upgrade to me? Is anyone discounted the 5s?

That is the subsidized price for the iPhone 5S. You can try third party sellers like Walmart, Target, BestBuy, and Radio Shack to see if one of these offers a better deal.

The upgrade price is usually the same as new contract price.

That price is often the going rate for a 16GB iPhone 5s if you want more storage you will have to pay more but you stated you had service with them for a while so paying two hundred for an i5s is a pretty decent deal

That is the price for everyone. Fortunately, you don't have to pay full retail price like most of us.

    That is Apple's set price.

True that. I had to pay full retail this year or blow a partial upgrade which is something I didn't want to do.

I wish I still had the 2 year contract option on T-Mobile, only paying a subsidized price. I would've done the same thing you did though.

OP seems to be asking why he has to pay the same amount as everyone else since he's a 10 year subscriber to ATT. He wants a cheaper phone as a customer loyalty rate or something.

As far as I know there are no loyalty discounts with AT&T. I've been with them for a few years now and I also pay the same rates as everyone else. Only other thing that I can think of that would take money off the subsidized price would be if the OP had a FAN account with AT&T and had special pricing with them.

i hit 14 years with AT&T in March... there is no "loyalty" discount. Same as Sprint and VZW...

Lol I've been with sprint for over ten years I use to haggle the activation fee because of my years but they put a stop to that six months ago when I got my i5 on contract unless I jumped thru hoops

Carriers don't care about loyalty like they use too
