How to get my books(pdf) from iPad 3 to iPad Air?

I transferred from my 3 to my new Air. Everything come across okay but a few hours later ALL my books had disappeared off my Air.

I tried everything I could to get the PDFs across but no success.

Can someone tell me exactly how I can do this? I am going to give the 3 to my daughter but I still have it.

I would like to get the PDFs across and then clear the 3.

Email the PDF attachments to yourself and open them on your new iPad. Then save to your iBook folder.

I am on the latest iOS and need help on emailing the PDFs to myself. I have tried all sorts but cannot see an option to email anything.

I "Edit" then "Select All" and the only options I see is to "Move" or "Delete".

I hope that I don't have to email one at a time by going into each pdf
