Sent messages disappear right after i send them

I just had an issue with my imessage and realized i needed to fix my date and time. so i figured everything was going to be ok so when i texted my friend, the message that i sent didnt show up on my screen. my friend got the message and i got hers but i was not able to see what i wrote.
