Viber under iOS 7 (iPhone 5) is killing me!

Hello,

Since upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 (and then to iOS 7.0.2), Viber has been killing me. Not only does it drain my battery like crazy when open in the background, even beyond the existing issues with iPhone5 & iOS7 that everyone has whether they use Viber or not (which is funny because Viber's the only app I have that explicitly says it WON'T do that), but it doesn't play sounds for incoming calls and texts the vast majority of the time even when it's running in the background.

The WORST part is it completely messes with the audio on the phone in general, where it causes the apple clock app to not play alarm notifications (I can see the alarm is supposed to be going off from the lock screen or via a pop up message, it just doesn't actually play the alarm sound) and it even seems to take over audio from podcast/music apps so that I have to manually open them and toggle "play/pause" to get them to play again when viber is running.

This is beyond unacceptable! I could live without Viber if needed (though it at least partially worked in the past which was nice), but the fact that it completely f***s with many other major things I need to use the phone for has really made me angry. I realize this could be just as much Apple's fault as it is the developers of Viber, given that iOS 7 sucks for iPhone 5 users in general, but you guys really need to fix this!

This site is neither the developers of Viber or Apple so we can't fix it. I can give you some advice on steps you can try to get things cleared up. Some may seem obvious so if you have tried it just skip to the next suggestion.

1. Reboot the device
2. Mute the phone and un-mute the phone - In my own experiences when I had issue with some notification sounds doing this cleared it up
3. Remove Viber for a day or two and see if your issues go away. If the issues go away it's a Viber issue email the devs
4. Backup your phone and in iTunes click restore, after the OS is reloaded restore from your backup and see if the issues are still there
5. Restore the phone again but this time setup as new and see if your issues are there

Keep in mind this is a new version of iOS so there will be little glitches. But developers also need to update their apps for the changes. I have used iOS 7 on an iPhone 5 since beta 1 and I have had very little impact to usability. So sure there are some people complaining because they don't like the change, don't understand the change, some things don't work either due to glitches or due to very old out dated apps. However that doesn't mean that iOS 7 is giving the majority of iPhone 5 users problems, the squeeky wheel always seems louder.

Might be worth restoring and trying a fresh installation of Viber--with all of Apple's rules about apps being sandboxed I'm not sure it could really screw up other applications as much as you're describing--there might be some other issues at play here.

1. do you have the latest version of Viber? If you're not sure, please uninstall Viber and reinstall it again from the Appstore.
2. Are you sure that Viber is the cause to the audio/battery issues? When you uninstall it, does everything go back to normal?

got my new 5s, ios7 but my viber is not working for any calls only text, viber is my num 1 apps so i can still communicate with my family back home but i cant talk to them... i dont know why... pls viber update ur system...

Viber isn't working on my iPhone 5. I have reinstalled viber on ios 7.0.4 but i can't receive notifications. Nothing appears when someobe calls me, not even a sound no matter if the aplication runs in background. Later after an hour or So a notification appears on the viber icon. Also viber doesn't appear in the notifications centre, nor in the installed applications. Can someone help me, please?

It could be that the network you are connected to is blocking Viber's traffic.

1. First, please try uninstalling and reinstalling Viber when connecting to a few different WiFi networks (in order to pinpoint the source of the problem). What are the results?
2. Also, please make sure the following ports are enabled ("forwarded") on your routers or firewalls:
TCP: 5242 + 4244
UDP: 5243 + 9785

(if you are not sure how to enable ports, you may contact your router manufacturer or your Internet Service Provider)

Hi,

Please make sure that you do not choose "Deactivate" in Viber, but rather simply uninstall Viber. When you install Viber each time, you should receive the messages that were sent you while Viber was uninstalled.

The behavior on iOS7 should not change dramatically when it comes to Viber.

I have two phones, galaxy s4 and an iphone 5s, recently the status reporting of my friend has confused me, on the Samsung it says "online a few moments ago" but stays as that, on the iphone it says a date about a month ago as it always has done, any idea whats going on here ?

I am using viber on ios 7.0.4 jailbreak and recently i updated it to 4.2.1

I am facing a strange bug which involves blank screen on receiving or dialing a call. once call is dialed or received the the dialing screen blinks like hiding un-hiding of dialing screen with top voilet bar.

i tried multiple uninstall and reinstall. I am also unable to disconnect the call or not able to use speaker as the dialing controls are inaccessible in updated version. unfortunately i have to use 4.1 version of viber which is working smooth.

Can you tell me what actually the problem is or what actually hiding controls of dialing screen.
