Podcast playback problem with ios 7.0.2

since I upgraded to ios 7.0.2 I have been having trouble playing podcasts into my car audio system. I have an iphone 5 and I use the lightning connector to plug into the usb port in my 2013 vehicle. I use the native Apple podcast app playing several different podcasts loaded from itunes. As soon as I plug in, it will play for 5 to 10 seconds and then lock up. If I disconnect the cable and try to play the podcast it will give me a "playback failed" error. I will then need to delete the podcast and reinstall. I have tried: powering down the phone, rebooting the phone, deleting podcast app and reinstalling, and a different cable. Did not have this problem with ios 6 and 7 - just 7.0.2. Any suggestions?
