Do you think the Apple Watch will ever have the ability to hold a sim card? Maybe future generations?

In my opinion, probably never. Apple Watch is already packing a ton of stuff into a very tiny package so adding a SIM card would mean adding bulk, especially when you consider requiring more battery, a cellular antenna, and any other components needed to make it run independently. From a marketing standpoint, it makes sense for Apple to continue requiring that the Apple Watch be connected to an iPhone for full functionality as well.
