Using Apple Watch (with OS2) as a remote for Apple TV

Hi all,
First post here. Looks like a great forum. I am trying to set up my Apple Watch as a remote for Apple TV. I have been using a few iterations of iPhone as the Apple TV remote without any problems, but I can't get my Apple Watch to be recognized by Apple TV. Any hints or directions you can point me?

Your iPhone has to be on the same home network as the AppleTV and have the Apple Remote app installed on the phone. If the Remote app works on the AppleTV your watch is paired to - the watch remote app should work...

hi, thanks for the reply. All are on the same network. When I am trying to get my Apple Watch to connect to my Apple TV, I don't see the watch as an available remote to be paired to.

Maybe I need to have my iPhone remote launched when I try to connect my apple watch?
