It seems that an important feature is missing from the Apple Watch OS. The watch should notify you if it loses its connection to the iPhone eliminating the possibility of forgetting your iPhone at home or, worse, in a bar. Is there a setting that I've missed or an app for that?

There's not currently active notification... there is a status symbol that appears on the watch when it's not in connection to iPhone...

Maybe with watchOS2. I'm thinking Apples relaxing the rules on native app use of the Taptic Engine, we should see this feature pop up in the coming months.

That would be REALLY useful, I'm surprised Apple did not consider that on settings.

I agree the indicator on the watch is not enough

I forgot my phone at home twice in the last month. Using your watch around the house and having to leave quickly you assume you have your phone because you just finished interacting with your watch but your phone is on the charger

Yeah, that's what I meant. And why this very important (to us forgetful people) feature was not included in the basic watchOS, I'll never understand. Sometimes I feel like we've all been running watchOS 0.9, and the real 1.0 is what's coming soon.

You get a red disconnected symbol top and center on the watch. That's all. (You should really only be getting disconnected if you're too far from your phone, otherwise you may have an issue)

I use a Bluetooth connection between my car and iPhone to play music, so I discover pretty much immediately after leaving the house if I left my iPhone at home.

That said, it would be nice if the Watch itself alerted you when it disconnects from the iPhone. Post your suggestion at http://www.apple.com/feedback.

I posted the suggestion a few minutes ago. The more people who post a similar suggestion, the more likely it will make it into Apple's watchOS bucket list.

Yeah a strong repeated vibration when the phone disconnected was one of the best features of the Pebble watch. Let me know when I was out of range or like others have said when you leave the house and it's not with you. Also would help with the worst case scenario of it being legit lost say left in a taxi or stolen from you.
