Hey Friends,

My wife loves the look of the gold apple watch, but could never justify spending 10k+ on one, so I gold plated her Stainless steel Milanese apple watch. Well, i actually plated 2! I was going to keep it, but I think i'm going to stick with my 42mm link when it finally arrives, so its hitting ebay. (apple won't accept the return)

After all the positive feedback on another forum, i decided to launch a site offering the service to anyone with a SS apple watch. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Very nice pictures.

As the Milanese Loop is made of incredibly fine mesh, I would have thought any kind of plating would clog up the individual links, or be so thin that it will wear off in no time.

A video of the plated ML band moving would be really great, if you could post one please?

This does look pretty awesome. Do you have any idea what the durability of the gold plating that you used is like? And what size is the one you're going to sell?

I might be interested in a 42mm, but that would really depend upon the durability of the plating. If it starts to peel easily then, in my opinion, it would start to look worse pretty quickly, with no way of fixing it other than having it plated again.

That watch looks great! I'm personally not a fan of gold but this looks fantastic!

I don't know much about the process but it looks like this will hold up better then cheaper spray can option.

Can you give some details on the durability of this process without giving away your trade secrets?

Looks can be deceiving. If it's 1 micron of thickness, it's like costume jewelry. Expensive fine gold plated watches range from 10 to 20 microns. It's my understanding some of these plating services are using 5 or 6 microns. That may or may not be sufficient to last the life of the watch.
