I think that the screen increases will only be about $50 more, so I hope to only shell out $550 for a steel 42

Thats what I was thinking, but maybe the "Apple Tax" will kick in and it will be $100 for a screen size upgrade. I am planning on $500 after tax and everything for the  Watch Sport 42 MM with the Space Gray Aluminum.

Unless its waterproof it's not even an option for me. I wear my watch everywhere and have for so many years, I would definitely ruin it if it's not waterproof. Price wise I'm hoping no more than 350 or so.

Comparable to most smartwatches on the market now for example the samsung gear series, paying 350 dollars seems respectable; I would buy it for that price.

I doubt I'd pay $50 for one. Why do I need a tiny iPod on my wrist? I carry my iPhone everywhere I go.

If you think the Apple watch is too expensive, but like the look, which I don't, the Chinese always have a solution for you. $31 Bucks

I won't be getting one, but it's mainly due to my eyesight. I just ordered the iPhone 6 because I can barely see my Blackberry screen, a watch would be a complete waste on me.
Don't rule out the accessibility options! Just like the iPhone has many options for people with difficulty reading small text, I'll bet Apple has already put thought into making the Apple Watch friendly to people who don't want to necessarily look at their wrists but instead get a tap or hear something on the hour or when they raise their wrists. Something to consider.

Back to the original post, I will likely end up spending around $500.00 for the watch when I first buy it, and maybe more to get a snazzy band for special occasions. I'm not rich by any means, but I know how to budget.

Your are of course entitled to your opinion but IMO until it's released we really don't know that much about it.

Still a little high. I mean why is it $100+ more than the moto 360 or the zen watch? I think apple will sell some, but don't think they will sell near the amount they think they will.

True, but there's no contract with a watch. I like wearing watches but my Pebble stopped working. I'm not going to bother with it or any other watch until Apple releases theirs. Going by your signature, you don't get the itch to adopt new technology early and that's fine! I'll tell you all about my experience with the first gen watch, and I'm willing to bet you may start to care for wearing an Apple watch by the third generation or so.

That $349 price is for the base model. There's two different types:

    38mm case
    42mm case

Then if you're a 'baller,' then we have the 'Edition,' that runs about $5,000+ sitting on 18k gold.
