You saving up for one? Or did you buy a Series 2 (like I did) and are planning on holding off until the Series 4?

Suppose the real question is what Apple introduces in the next one. If the features (and form factor!) offer a lot of good things, I might have to do the upgrade... but from all I've heard so far, am really not sure.

The next gen AW might be an opportunity to grab a Series 2 at a discount too, so that's another angle!!

I've got both money and Ramen put aside for this spring. I've got plastic and I'm not afraid to use it.

So it's either a Series 3 if it rocks my socks or a Nike+ if it doesn't.

I'd like to see them take on Fitbit in the fitness department and release more than one model. In the unlikely event they release a very low profile, lightweight model (something like the charge 2) then sign me up.

@fourthbase - that's an interesting idea.. but do you think they'd go down that road? I wonder if Apple would even consider purchasing Fitbit?...

I would have to be blown away to buy a 3rd watch in 3 years. I got the series 2 because of the waterproofing (I swim a lot during the spring-summer) and the gps (running/hiking all year).

I've been waiting for Apple to track sleeping not through 3rd party apps. Currently have my Fitbit Charge 2 but this fall maybe time for my Apple Watch.

Same here. I cannot possibly imagine what feature in Watch 3 would make me buy.

While I like ramen from time to time it's a mild penance for buying another watch that's very similar to my others, that I don't really need, but will get anyway!

My way of taking the edge of conspicuous consumption. I want a Nike+ anyway, so like I said, if the S3 doesn't knock my socks off, it's a Nike+, maybe at a discount.

Congrats on the new watch! I'm still enjoying my first generation, so I'm sure you'll get a lot of use from your Series 2!

Thanks. Maybe next year I'll think about the new one.
I do however upgrade my iPhone yearly.

Unless there's a killer feature for you, there's no real reason to do the watch that often. ENJOY!

That's the reason I don't upgrade my phone, or anything, for that matter, on a regular basis.

Right?! That's probably my plan too. This Series 0 is getting long in the tooth LOL.

I honestly am not interested in a new Apple Watch unless the next one brings something that I just can't live without. I'm extremely happy with what I've got.

The Watch really isn't something that I'd imagine needs an annual upgrade or even a two year upgrade. Something every three years seems just right. And only if the technology upgrades require it, in my opinion.

As it applies to smartwatches, I'd say most people feel the same way. The main reason most people spend money on an upgrade is because there is something of significance that gives them an ROI. With smartwatch tech, that will be slower in coming than in other categories.

Smartwatches are as yet a nascent product category. Even fitness bands fall short of ubiquity. Either we get used to wearing a large lump of tech on our wrists, or we wait for battery tech to take a huge leap forward so we can see some real advances in what we can expect from a smartwatch.

I just got the Nike+ Series 2 so it is highly unlikely that I will get the Series 3. About the only thing that would get me to consider it would be 3-4 day battery life and that is highly unlikely.

I have the first one and only thing I can really think of would be speed. Even with watchOS 3 it's a bit pokey for me. OK for notifications but for any apps it's not quite there yet (IMO)

I was 'forced' to purchase the Series 2 nearly a week back after repeated issues of my first gen having the rear sensor panel dislodging off from my charging stand. Initially also wanted to wait until the Series 3.

If the Series 3 has more significant upgrades over Series 2, I'll still upgrade. Else, will be just my current Series 2.
