I'm seriously thinking about getting an Apple Watch. I have a fit bit and one of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm on the treadmill, bike riding, or grocery shopping it doesn't count my steps is the Apple Watch the same?

I have a Fitbit and it counts steps just fine on a treadmill. I don't have an Apple Watch but am betting it would count steps just fine on a treadmill.

I wear both. I haven't tested out the bar holding glitch but I do notice my Fitbit records far more steps than my Watch does.

Mine won't count if I am holding onto the bars on a treadmill

I don't think any fitness device will register very many steps if you're holding on to the bars. If you want to do that, get a clip on tracker like the Fitbit One.
