I do about 11,000....which normally averages about 5-6 miles! I wonder how accurate this watch is, and how it tracks. Anyone know?

11,000 at the least

Nice! It's one of the reasons I really like this watch! I'm really against a lot of steady state cardio on a machine(treadmill), so I hope this watch really shows people that lots of aerobic activity(such as walking) is SO much more effective for exercise!!

I've never checked how many steps I take a day. I doubt as many as what I'm seeing here from y'all. I would guess maybe 5,000 steps a day, if that many.

My steps vary depending on how much I run. I get between 7 and 15 thousand and it feels fairly accurate. I carry my phone with me so I believe it is tracking distance. It does get to know your pace and how you move the more you use it. There are suggestions on calibrating it, taking a 20 minute walk outside on fairly flat land on a clear day with good cellular connection. Do this a few times at varying paces and it will get to know you faster.

I average about 6-7000 per day. What I really like about the watch is it recognizes playing an instrument as exercise. I'm a tuba and string bass player, and I am consistently getting more minutes of exercise on days when I play.

It tracks exercise based off of your heart rate as far as I know. So that could be why you get your exercise in. All the quick moving/heavy breathing.

I have the same thing happen with my Microsoft Band (don't have my Watch yet) when I'm playing my guitar. I can generate 1500+ steps in a half hour of playing.

As for my step average, it's hard to tell. I have a desk job with long hours. There are days were I'm below 2500 steps. On weekends, I can get up over 10k pretty easily just doing chores around the house. If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere between 5 and 6 thousand is the average.

** EDIT**

Just looked at my weekly step counts on the Band app. Low was around 36k steps and high was just over 46k. So I am in the 5.5 to 6.5 thousand range.

Let's see. I'm at 9, 579 at the moment, but I just finished a 5-mile walk/run combo. I should be well over 10K by day's end...;)

My goal is 15000, and sometimes I get up to 25000. I've never gotten to 30k, though. Yet...

You will get there, .
