So, everything I have read says I need to restore my AppleTV by connecting it to my computer and restoring through ITunes. The problem is I connect the micro usb to the AppleTV and plug it into my computer and absolutely nothing happens. No light turns on, iTunes does not pop up, and when I search items plugged into my computer its not there. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Are you able to see anything with the ATV connected to your TV? If so, you can restore it from the ATV's settings.

If it's a 3rd gen AppleTV, you need the power cord plugged in too to connect to iTunes and restore.

It's a 2nd generation. I've even tried with it plugged into the power supply just in case, but that doesn't work either.

You can do a restore as new while it's connected to the TV.

Go to Settings - General - Reset and you'll see the option to restore.
