Remote App finding Apple TV

Is anyone else having a hard time using their Remote App to control their AppleTV?
My remote app can't even find it. It just tells me to turn on Home Sharing, which is already on.

Is you AppleTV connected to your home network wired or wireless? And is it on the same network as your iPhone connects to?

Yes both are connected to my network at home. I can watch Netflix etc. with my Apple TV, but can't get the Remote App on my iPhone or iPad to connect to it. Everything worked great last week.

Hmmmm...I wonder if one of the updates changed something.

Update: I just realized both my 4s and iPad 2 have lost their airplay capabilities. No button for them after double tap on home by the media controls

I have 6.1.3 on both my iPad & iPhone5... remote app works fine with my AppleTV... check your AppleTV for a software update - one was released for those too when 6.1.3 released...

Fixed:

Everything was working great separately but not together. I restarted my modem, then hard started (?) my phone and ipad.
Now the Remote Apps work and I have my AirPlay buttons back. Weird, because everything worked seamlessly for the past 3 months. Oh well.

I am able to connect to apple tv with iTouch and iPad everything works well with it except the touch pad on the app. Trying to swipe between icons does not work. The hardware remote works well?
