So i imported a Cd into Apple Music i was thinking the iCloud status would appear as uploaded but it appeared as Apple Music is this normal and is it meant to match cds that are imported to its catologue

If it's an album that Apple Music has in its catalogue it will give you DRM-protected access to their copy. So yes, it will 'match' music from your iTunes collection.

But matching songs doesn't put drm on your existing songs on the computer the songs are physically stored.

Only by deleting them and downloading them back on your computer will put drm on them

Please be notified that no matter what the  music status tells you, the song you've added in your library will be the ones you'll be hearing. But when you're on your iPhone/iPad, the  Music versions will be played instead. To avoid this, you can rename all songs with a suffix like "(cd version)".
This will cause  Music to not match songs with their database, thus leading to all your songs being physically uploaded to your iCloud Music Library
