I read the title and thought you meant AM radio quality versions.

I'm not sure but it's happened to me a couple times. It hasn't replaced all of my music only a few random songs. It's rather annoying

I thought they were morning songs. Like before noon.

None of those songs aren't replaced by AM, they are simply matched with what  Music already has in its catalogue. Your songs on your computer are still the same you had, but if you were to stream those songs in iDevices, Apple is simply gonna use what they have catalogued rather than uploading your own songs to their servers.

If Apple was to upload the database of all their users, they would have millions of duplicates for thousands of songs they already have catalogued.

"Apple Music scans those 25,000 songs to see which, if any, can be matched with the Apple Music catalog. If they can, when you re-download that song on another device, you'll get a 256kbps Apple Music AAC filewhich also happens to have DRM on it. Any songs not matched with the Apple Music catalog are uploaded as-is, where they can be redownloaded in their original format."

For those special song versions, you can retitle them by adding something like " long live" to the existing title. Then it won't get matched.

It's probably easier for Apple to have one song to stream to numerous devices than it does to have millions of copies of the same song.

Because not all of them are licensed for streaming.
You have to realize streaming and selling music are two entirely different ways of distributing music.

Apple may have the rights to sell specific songs whereas they have not the rights to stream those same songs.

Sam, nobody tells you otherwise.. Regardless of the iCloud status, they will be your songs for all eternity..

Only and I literally mean only if the extension of the songs on your hard drive are *.m4p then you're songs aren't yours, otherwise, their yours.

All songs which are replaced by  Music, which is highly unusual and unlikely have the m4p extension.

Songs bought in iTunes have the m4a extension.

So to be clear, regardless of what the iCloud status says, those songs are yours.

The status "Apple Music" only means those songs are in Apple's catalogue as well.

Ask me if you have anymore questions, but make sure to read my post a few times before you do so. I couldn't have been more clear.
