Itunes match doesn't show in the settings anymore, and it is very unclear as to what is happening.
Am I still paying for itunes match?
If I cancel Apple Music, will my music in itunes match still be available?
    Anybody?

As far as I understand it, iTunes Match is and will remain as a separate service. I don't know how they will handle in the software users who remain with iTM and don't do Apple Music. Does the iTunes Match button come back if you turn off Apple Music? Perhaps iTunes Match is going to be relabeled as iCloud Music Library? There's a button for that and my guess is that would be the toggle for iTunes Match.

That's what I thought too, but it does not turn on itunes match. So I really am not sure how this thing is supposed to work.

"Apple Music and iTunes Match are independent but complementary."

I take that to mean that your iTunes Match stuff will still be available to you.
