12 inch MacBook or 13 inch MacBook Pro?

I can't really choose between them, but I'm pretty sure that they'll perform well enough for what I want to do. I want it for browsing, watching videos, basic video editing, and long battery life. Portability is pretty important as well. The MacBook would be about $1200, while the Pro would be about $1349. Are there any noticeable differences that warrant the extra $150?

Both computers would have 8gb ram and 256GB SSD.

Where I live, the price for both start at $1,299.00. With that being said, I would go with the pro version for the better specs.

Thanks D! Would you say that the Pro is portable for a student and that 8GB ram is enough for a Mac? I had an Air that had 4GB ram which ran with only minor performance hiccups, but that was 2 years ago. Has MacOS become more resource intensive in that time that it would require 16GB for the computer to adequately last me 4-5 years?

I looked further into the MacBook's processors and it seems to be ridiculously overpriced for its specs, even for a Mac.

You're very welcome, sir. In regard to your question, yes, the MacBook Pro with 8 GB of RAM should be more than sufficient for students and various professionals alike, in my opinion. I use a MacBook Air w/8 GB RAM at work and I keep numerous tabs open all day long without any problems. My personal MacBook Pro is more powerful and can definitely handle my workload.

I went from an Air to 13 MacBook Pro touch bar. I am obsessed with it.

If it's me, I would recommend MACBOOK PRO 13 with touch bar. You mentioned you need to edit video sometimes, MACBOOK 13 comes with better hardware, which will definitely enhance the efficiency. Generally, if someone always need to travel around and only need to do basic office editing, I would suggest macbook 12.
