Why isn't my Apple ID being recognized?

apple id not recognized

the apple id my daughter is logged in with is not recognized. the ipod is logged in under an email address and we have no idea what the password is. so, when we attempt to sign out or retrieve a pw the apple systems state the id does not exist. how is this possible if we are logged in under this id?

how can we logged out of this id without a pw?

Welcome to iMore! Have you tried going to http://appleid.apple.com and logging in there? If you're getting a message that the Apple ID doesn't exist you might want to try setting it up with the same email address and then using that login info to sign out on the iPad. It sounds gimmicky but I'm sure I've heard it working for others.
