1. If you have an iCloud account AND the Find My iPad feature was enabled on the device, you can login to the iCloud website and see a general location of the iPad "if" it's on and connected to the Internet. You can also place the device in lost mode.
2. Retrace your steps to make sure you didn't misplace it.
3. If you have insurance that covers theft of smart devices, contact your agent.
4. Make preparations to purchase a new iPad
5. Change the passcode of all the account configured on the iPad whether it be email, Twitter, Facebook, etcetera.
6. Try to enjoy the rest of your day under the circumstances.
