Why am I getting print books already purchased on iPad?

getting print books already purchased on iPad

Hi!
I'm not at all techie so I defer to greater minds! In September, I will be traveling for 3 months and have a ton of books to read. Unfortunately, I purchased them (12) in print form from Amazon before I got, or even thought about getting, an iPad.

Is there a way of getting them onto my iPad without having to re-purchase them?

You can probably get them at a reduced price, but I wouldn't get my hopes up expecting to get them for free.
