Well, typical for new line of Apple products (my iPhone 2G only lasted 13 months as well)...the case doesn’t charge anymore and the left pod is dead.

Tried resets..etc...nada. Back to the EarPods I guess. :(

Interesting. My AirPods are 17 months old and the case charges just fine, but I will admit that my right AirPod (I use that one the most by far) only gets about 45 minutes talk time now. I'm pretty satisfied and I'm sure I can get a few more moths of use.

Let me help you out. Your Apple AirPods, like your original iPhone, lasted 13 months before it stopped working properly. In this particular case, the left pod appears to be dead. Is that correct?

If so, other than performing a reset of your AirPods, what else have you done? Were the AirPods ever dropped, sat on, stepped on or dropped in water? Have you tried charging the case for about an hour with the AirPods therein? Have you checked the case for debris that could be preventing the left pod from charging?

I’ve had all sorts of issues with mine. Apple has replaced them several times .... but have never had a case completely stop charging. I’d try stuff that Just_Me_D suggested above.

They are treated like gold. They have two spots. In my briefcase and used for telecoms. And i do take them to the gym for 30 minutes a day (not a ear sweater if you need to know).

Never dropped, they are as pristine looking as the day i bought them. Only issue is they get used for phone calls about 2-3 hours a day.

I suspect they just wore out..just like my 2G when the WiFi cut first, then the 2G antenna. I typically only keep Apple products for 12 months so I can understand them not going the distance. Still sad going back to the wire, but happy with close controls and no accidental hang ups when i scratch my ears!

Understood....Having said that, have you spoken to anyone at an Apple Store just to get their take on it?

No, just another thing Apple has screwed up amazingly in the last decade. You want to talk to a Genius Bar? Well first you have to make an appt through the app, which now entails a level of talking to a “specialist” over chat, and if they can’t help you then they will make that appt.

Last time I attempted to get something fixed (son’s AirPods ironically), I spent 40 minutes chatting with a complete moron only to angerly (chat anger), tell them to just make me the damn appointment. Then after 20 minutes I just gave up.

It’s not the same company anymore. I have zero issues paying top dollar for good stuff (no one makes good stuff anymore, it’s all just disposable junk); but I what I want is the customer service that goes with the top dollar, and Apple used to get my highest praise on it. They didn’t make the best stuff, but if i walked into the store and showed them the problem it was an instant replacement. Now they are just a face in the crowd.

The AirPods are getting tossed, and 2018 is the first year in a decade I’m not getting the new iPhone. I’m letting the clock tick on this one and checking out my options on the other side...pray for me the iPhone X works from month 13-24 (kidding...the new phones have 24 month warranties...I’m sure it will break at month 25).

You and I have completely different experiences with Apple and the Genius Bar and Apple devices.

Looking at the app, it does appear they've made it more difficult to make a Genius Bar appointment. My suggestion would be, since they also display your local Apple Store, including the phone number, in the app, to just call your local Apple Store and make a Genius Bar appointment over the phone.

I just had my right AirPod replaced by setting up an appointment without chatting with anyone. This was 3 weeks ago.
