I got my iphone 6 thru Tmobile but the charging cable only, the plug is fine, but the reinforced part near where it plugs into phone is wearing out. It is actually starting to break right where it starts to be reinforced. I've seen I could take it to apple store and get a new one? Something with warranty. But I didnt get it there so is this even possible?

Unless you can prove that the cable is self damaging, why would expect to get a replacement cable for free? Still, if t-mobile or Apple gives you a free cable then good for you.

If it's an OEM cable it doesn't hurt to try. Apple is pretty reasonable when it comes to stuff like that.

The cable is under the same warranty as the phone. If the warranty has expired, you might still get a nice Apple rep to replace it⋅. Call Support. I got a new cable that way. But my warranty was still in effect.

I just got these replaced by Apple for FREE at the Apple Store because my 6s Plus was still under warranty even though the cable and plug was from an older iPhone. The Sales Associates usually just swap them out with no question asked.

Cables have the same warranty as the phone. The phone has a 1 year warranty unless you buy apple care + and that extents warranty to two years.
If it's an Apple branded cable that you bought at walmart, and you have a receipt showing that cable is less than 1 year old, it will be covered no matter where you bought it.
If the phone and the cable are past 1 year (and you don't have apple care plus) then you just have to buy a new cable.
If the cable is a 3rd party non apple cable, apple doesn't cover it at all.
If the phone is under warranty, apple doesn't care if it's the cable that came with your iPhone 5 from 4 years ago, you have a device under warranty and they will give you another cable.

I've also had them replaced at the Apple store. They did take a small magnifier and look for the serial number on the cable to make sure it went with the phone. In my case it didn't but I've got a bunch of devices -- not sure if they were able to see that.

Apple is pretty good with replacing cables, charges and earphones. I never had an issue swapping any of the three, even if they were out of warranty.
