Game Controllers for iOS devices.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of options in terms of game controllers for iOS?
Mostly bluetooth controllers but I would really like a wired controller for my iPad.
Is there any option for a wired controller for iPad?
I saw one that connects to the earphones jacks, but that's... not really what I had in mind.

I am not sure there is any options for a controller to connect to the lightning or the older iOS connector?

What are my options for a wired controller?

If developers have taken advantage of Apple MFi licensing program then wired controllers should be forthcoming. Some could be available now, but I don't know for certain.
