Since Touch ID is going to a feature of the newest model. What happens to the companies that heavy duty rugged cases for the phones? And what type of adaption will they make to deal with this feature?

Otterbox just removed the home button cover and that is how they made it compatible...

Really? Will the cases for the 5 work if I remove the home button covering? Is the back opening large enough for the dual flash? It doesn't look that way from the website.

This really confuses me. You bought a case to go on a specific device. Now you’re wanting to upgrade your phone and want to use the same case? Might work, might not. But the point is why wouldn’t you want an accessory specifically designed for your device? It’s like trading your toyota in for a jeep and complaining that your car cover doesn’t fit. It wasn’t designed for the new car.

No look at the website of otterbox completely different fronts The button goes in to deep for the iphone 5 case to work with a 5s IMO they have a flatfront now ! I just put a couple of request for custom colors with them ! I keep buying there defender series because there the best IMO and have one on my ipad 4 which I took off my 3rd and works !

I am sure companies will make it "work" but will it compromise the idea of a rugged case?

As for the current line up.. they better resize it to fit the phone better as it currently damages device.

I too have never had any damage to my phones when using the Defender Series. No wiggle room at all in the one I have on my 5 now. Can't wait to get the new 5s and the Defender for that. Also really like the idea of picking the colors I want. I know you can for the 5 but not when the phone first came out. Besides a very early warranty exchange in both phone and case, haven't had a single problem in the last year.
