I have been trying to get my iPhone to work with my stereo, but it has gotten extremely complicated. I have an iHome H4 laying around not being used and thought that there maybe a way to connect it to my stereo with the 3.5mm jack. The reason I can't do this with my iPhone is just simply it is an iPhone 2g and apple didn't know how to make a headphone jack.
