Alli, have you noticed any difference in charging speed with the cable\adapter? Thanks
I have not, and I'm using the adapter 100% of the time with my Mini, using my old 10' 30 pin cord.

K thanks. One last question. Is the lightening end the same width as apple one? I use lifeproof case and its a tight fit.

I ordered one from Amazon.ca last night.

For $5, if it doesn't work, I won't feel cheated.

True but at that point what are you really saving over the OEM one.

Lightning to USB cable is $21.00 on Apple.ca, so, if it works, I save 75%.

I ended up trying my luck with this generic cable from eBay http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...alID%3DEBAY-US and I got it 2 days ago. I've charged in the car (not full charge) while running errands and I used it to fully charge overnight once and haven't had any issues with it except that a couple of times it gave me the this accessory is not supported and I just flipped the connecter piece over and it works again. For $4.92 from NJ I said why not

I bought two different adapters on eBay and both work fine. The adapter with the pigtail fits with my LP Fre case on my IP5.

I purchased one from Amazon, it works great it seems like a tight fit when you plug it into the port but I have had no issues and it is reversible like the OEM cable. Shipping took forever as it came from china.

    Mine came in today.
So far, that's $5.39 well spent.

If it craps out in a week or two, I'll admit defeat and pay Apple their kilo of flesh.

    Why a kilo?
Because one kilogram is roughly 2.2 lbs.
I think that more accurately reflects Apples robust profit margins.

it work great now. As of today posting. China have perfected the lightning cable. 10,000 sold if not more... If it not good, Apple would have stop the sell of the Generic.

I'd heard of the possibility of burning out the charging port with the use of certain generic cables. Is this still the case?

I bought a couple of lighting generic cables from Sunsky for my car & work, they are a very tight fit and like one of the poster said just charge on one side, but I'm getting a bit worry both times I charged in my car with the generic, I start having problems trying to charge at home with the OEM cable, it takes me several tries to get the iphone to recognize the cable is plugged, so looks that the generic may be screwing my phone up, I may have to shell and buy a OEM to use when I travel, and after using the OEM it goes back to normal and detected it every time, just those 2 times after using the generic it went nuts. It could be that I got 2 bad cables and they are messing with the charging port. Anyway this is just my experience with a non OEM cable........

I have had them now for about a week. They both look just like the official apple ones. But one cable died after a week. It just stopped working. I had it in the car to charge not sure if that made a difference. I replaced it with a Griffin cable. The other I have on my computer and use it to sync my iPhone to iTunes. So 50-50 on if they work. Still $5 for one working cable is still not bad.
