Now that the iPhone5 has voice directions, I'd like to mount it (like a Garmin, Tom Tom) to the vent (preferred) or the windshield of my Prius.

    Any recommendations?

iMore has quite a few at iPhone 5 Car Kits & Mounts - iMore Store but I can't say which one will work with the Prius interior vents.

    Thanks.

No one here drives a Prius (or will admit to it)?

Most generic vent mounts work with vents that have horizontal slits. The Prius vent is different (with small-height vertical slits).

Not really Prius-specific, though I use this one in mine (2010). You have the option of the beanbag mount which is very stable, or suction cup to the windshield.

Thanks. I am more inclined to go for a vent mount or something closer than the dash, in case one has to touch the screen like when using music/phone apps on the iPhone. Also, the audio jack is in the armrest and not on the face-plate of the radio.. which makes the wiring simpler if the iPhone is closer to the armrest. Besides, I have a bean-bag for my Garmin sitting on the dash.

I don't route any wires anywhere just the voice itself. Also if you have the Garmin there isn't the iPhone redundant?

Indeed, quite a selection. Which one of those will work well with the center vents on the Prius? ... That is the question....
I don't want bean-bag or suction cup designs (for proximity).
Tetrax system looks pretty good, if it will grip the vent slots of the Prius.

Yes, for navigation. But it is still handy to have the phone in front of you vs inside the armrest for music apps, phone calls etc.

We use the universal mounts from Verizon it goes in a vent or is a dash sticky. We use the vent adaptor. It works very well.

This is the setup I use for my 2011 Prius / iPhone 4S... it should work just as described since iPhone 4S is the exact same width as the 5. (The 5 is just taller).

It is shifter knob replacement that doubles as a magnetic mount so it holds your phone in place.

I suggest you buy a cigarette lighter mount. You can use them in any car and also charge you phone at the same time

I prefer ventilation shaft mounts over any other mount. And it allows your phone to cool off in hot days. When you have the heater on, just close the vent so the phone doesn't overheat.

The following picture is of an old mount, which I drilled holes in to allow cold air to reach the back of the phone. Originally it was for the 3 series iPhones, but with those white anti scratch stickers it's even fine for the iPhone 6. Don't mind the audio jack, because I removed it.

Isn't those magnetic holders interfering with the signal, nfc and all??? How about long term?

Magnets could not be good on phones, I suppose

Old thread but I'll add Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts - ProClip USA
I've had them in both our cars and they are rock solid and work great. The model we have is adjustable so it's worked with all of our iphones up to the 6 we currently use.

I just got this magnetic one that sticks/suctions to the dash. It's really nice to be able to grab my phone at any given time without two hands. I'm even getting one for work and for my wife's car...

Not keen on the ones that mount on the vents. Phone gets hot or cold when air or heat is working. Get one that mounts on the dash.

In summer it's nice to have the air conditioning blowing at the phone, otherwise it gets real hot while using navigation software, in winter I disable that specific vent
