Which macbook processor do i get

I am buying the new Macbook 2017.
The most i am doing on my laptop would be heavy use of office applications and chrome and some multitasking. I want to also futureproof this and hope it lasts 5 years.
So should i get the M3, i5 or i7

The i5 should be more than sufficient for your use.

As suggested by Just_Me_D, I believe that the i5 should be enough..
However, if you want extra power from the i7, it won’t hurt

The M5 has been plenty fine for me 1+ years now. I use a 4GB Windows 10 VM often and at other times run several apps. I believe my IT director tasks would make me a power user and it's been a fine system.

I just picked up the m3 version and I am very impressed with its speed. I only use the web and email so after much research I realized I didn't need the bigger processor.
