Whatsapp question on status ticks

Ok. I sent a message via Whatsapp and on the main message it has 1 grey tick stating it hasn't been read, but when you click on 'Info' it states Read with 2 blue ticks and then no date or time just 3 little dots

What does this mean. Is my friend reading my messages via plane mode or offline or something?

When it shows the red with 2 blue ticks with no time stamp or date it is just a guide. your grey ticks will turn to blue unless they turned their read receipt off.
